Our Vacation Program offers paid work experience for undergraduates wanting to apply what they’re learning to real world projects.
The program runs for 12 weeks over summer, and can include roles in engineering, data analytics, communications, and environment.

The program
Vacation students will gain practical experience to build skills and get the opportunity to work on meaningful work that impacts the Canberra community.
We look for undergraduates who are in their second last, or last year of study and who are passionate about developing their career.
How to apply
Eligibility
An applicant must:
- be in their second last, or last year of undergraduate study of the degrees listed in the job ad (when it opens)
- have previous experience working in a team-based role and/or evidence of teamwork outside of work (e.g., extra-curricular activities, sporting teams, social groups)
- be passionate about driving positive safety behaviour
The process
Here’s what to expect when you apply for the Vacation Program:
- Application: resume, academic transcript, and cover letter addressing the eligibility criteria
- First stage: online video interview
- Second stage:
- Personality questionnaire and general abilities assessment
- Assessment centre and face-to-face interview
- Pre-employment screening: reference check and police check
- Offer of employment
