New connection or alteration to an existing connection

Process

Receive connection advice

  1. Email us at network.connectionadvice@evoenergy.com.au to arrange an initial discussion.
  2. Submit a request for Preliminary Network Advice (PNA).
    • Maximum demand calculations and site plans must accompany all PNA applications.
    • Other supporting documents may be required as advised by Evoenergy.
  3. We will send you an invoice for the initial design works as per our Schedule of electricity network charges.
  4. Once you pay the invoice, we will undertake preliminary design works, and provide a sketch plan and connection requirements.

Apply for connection services

  1. Apply for an electricity network connection or alteration once you’re ready for a detailed electrical design.
    • Maximum demand calculations, site plans, single line diagram, and consumer mains cable details must be provided at this stage.
    • A soil resistivity test report and site survey/geotechnical report is required where a substation is proposed within the block boundary.
  2. We will send you an invoice for the initial design works as per our Schedule of electricity network charges.
  3. Once you pay the invoice, we will process your application, undertake design works, and prepare a connection offer.
    • The connection offer will include the connection agreement, sketch plan of the works (including responsible parties), and the invoice for the connection.
  4. Once you accept the connection agreement through execution of the contract and pay the invoice, an Evoenergy Project Manager will establish regular project meetings, proceed with the procurement of equipment, and a construction schedule will be developed.
  5. Once construction is complete, we will help you establish the right protocols and testing before establishing an energisation date.
Timeline

We recommend reaching out to us about your project as soon as possible. The below timeframes listed against each project stage are a guide only and will vary depending on the scale of the project:

  • Planning and advice: 3-6 months
  • Preliminary design & assessment: 3-4 months
  • Detailed design & offer to connect: 8-10 months
  • Material procurement (if no PWA): 6-12 months
  • Construction: 2-4 months
  • Commissioning & beyond: 1 month
Cost

The cost for these connections can be found in our Connection Policy. The cost will vary depending on the type of connection.

Upfront design and PNA fees are documented in the ‘Fee-based ancillary service charges’ section of our Schedule of electricity network charges.

Please note a PNA does not include a quote, only an application for connection includes this

Cancellation

If you need to cancel your project, please contact the Evoenergy representative you have been liaising with for your connection.

Connection offer

Negotiated connection services apply to all large connections as they require augmentation or extension of the network, exceed 70kVA, or fall outside of the basic connection services definitions.

Evoenergy will provide a standard agreement at the completion of design works, or you may choose to request a copy of our standard agreement for negotiation in parallel to the design being undertaken. Once the standard agreement has been provided you may choose to accept the standard agreement or negotiate the terms and conditions of the connection agreement.

Choosing to negotiate terms and conditions will result in upfront negotiation fees, will likely see an increased timeframe for the connection and may increase the connection cost.

If you wish to negotiate the terms and conditions, an email requesting this should be sent to the Evoenergy contact who provided your standard agreement. Evoenergy will then contact you to discuss the negotiation process.
