Following the November 2020 release of the Australian Energy Regulator’s draft decision on Evoenergy’s 2021–26 plan for the gas network, on 13 January 2021, Evoenergy submitted its revised five-year plan (Revised GN21 plan).

Evoenergy’s revised GN21 plan largely accepts the Australian Energy Regulator’s draft decision for our gas network for the 2021–26 access arrangement period but provides a revised demand forecast to reflect updated and new information, as well as developments in the ACT Government’s climate change policy settings.

One of these revisions has been to reflect the results of a customer survey we conducted to learn more about residential gas usage, and how it is likely to change over the next five years and beyond.

The revised plan would allow Evoenergy to work towards a responsible transition to net zero emissions by 2045 while continuing to provide safe and reliable gas services and delivering gas network charges that will increase in line with inflation over the five years to June 2026.

We thank the community for its ongoing engagement on our gas plan and we’d encourage everyone to have their say on the draft decision and our revised plan. The Australian Energy Regulator is inviting submissions until 17 February 2021. It is expected to publish its final decision at the end of April 2021.

Background

Every five years, Evoenergy is required to submit to the Australian Energy Regulator how much it plans to spend operating, maintaining and investing in the gas network and how these costs should be recovered from gas consumers. The Australian Energy Regulator has reviewed Evoenergy’s proposed plan submitted at the end of June 2020, and released a draft decision in November 2020. In response to the draft decision, Evoenergy has now submitted a revised plan. The AER is expected to release its final decision at the end of April 2021, ahead of the commencement of the next regulatory period on 1 July 2021.
