Following another wet day, yesterday we restored power to 324 customers across the district of Belconnen, with the suburb of Holt now fully restored. Today, Evoenergy crews continue to work with Endeavour Energy crews who will primarily be onsite in Latham, Florey, Higgins, Weetangera, Page, Macgregor, Fraser and Hawker. Some of today’s jobs will include the repair and replacement of power poles and cross arms so we can re-hang the powerlines. There are currently 434 customers who remain without power after Monday’s storm.
We’d like to give a BIG shout out to all the hard working and resilient crews from Evoenergy, our contracted arborists and ACT Emergency Services Agency who are all on the ground, doing the heavy lifting to move trees and undertaking their meticulous work to repair the network and get everyone safely back on. When you see their trucks driving around, give the crews a wave!
We are continuing to monitor weather conditions and we’re still on track to restore all customers by 4pm Sunday so long as the network is not impacted by new weather events or faults. When safe to do so, our crews are continuing to work through the rain, but lightning may be a challenge. There are a small number of homes and businesses that require private electricians to repair damaged electricity supply points at their property so we can reconnect their service lines. We have spoken to these customers but if you're unsure please call us on 13 10 93.
The ACT ESA Community Hub at 27 Drake Brockman Drive, Higgins continues to be an important relief hub for many in the community still impacted by outages. It’s open again today from 11am – 7pm. Volunteers and Evoenergy staff will be on-site and will be able to assist and help as needed. Bags of ice, charging stations, washing machines, showers and a skip bin for spoiled food will all be available.
